According to the FDA, United Natural Trading LLC out of New Jersey is recalling one lot of their Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels. The company cites undeclared milk as the reason for the recall.
United Natural Trading announced the recall last Wednesday, clarifying that it applies only to lot number 24353 of their Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels. The Universal Product Code for the item is 811102026276 with a “Best Buy” date of 06/30/2025. The recalled lot of pretzels were sold via an online platform to customers in the area of Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The company has not provided a specific date range for distribution of the product.
The Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels are sold in 7-ounce, resealable plastic bags with yellow, green, and pink coloring. The front of the bag features the logo and product name with the backdrop of a yellow sun, birds, and a forested mountain range. The lower right corner of the bag reads, “Locally Packed in New Jersey.” Another bag reads, “Proudly Selected by Woodstock Farms.” Customers can find the Lot Number and “Best Buy” date printed over the bar code on the back of the bag.
Thus far, United Natural Trading has not received any reports of illness or adverse reaction linked to the recalled pretzels. The company attributed the presence of undeclared milk to an “internal nonconformance” issue involving the “label management system.” The issue was identified during an internal review process. No other products have been included in the recall.
According to Mayo Clinic, milk is the third most likely allergen to cause anaphylaxis, which is a severe immune reaction that can lead to difficulty breathing and a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Without immediate medical intervention, usually involving the administration of epinephrine, anaphylactic reactions can be fatal. Less serious allergic reactions are also possible. These might include stomach upset, skin rash, swelling of the mouth or throat, and congestion.
United Natural Trading LLC asks customers to refrain from eating the recalled pretzels and to use their online receipts to request a full refund.
Anyone with questions or concerns about the recall can contact the company Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST) at 732-650-9905.
