According to the FDA, Truly Good Foods has issued a recall on one lot of their Grabeez The Big Cheese Snack Mix cups. The company says the label on the product does not list almonds and cashews, which are clearly present in the snack mix as packaged.
Truly Good Foods, also known as Tropical Nut and Fruit, announced the recall on Monday after receiving a complaint from a customer. The company says that a “temporary breakdown in [their] production and packaging processes” resulted in a mislabeling of what should have been packaged as the company’s Healthy Trails Mix.
The recalled lot has a UPC of 0 94184 00439 with a “best by” date of 04/16/25. Truly Good Foods distributed the product between the dates of 8/23/2024 and 09/19/2024 to retailers in eight U.S. states, including Washington D.C., Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The mix is sold in a 3.25 ounce cylindrical container with a green and white label that includes the company’s name, the product name, and the slogan, “Snacks on the fly.” Customers and retailers can find the “best by” date stamped on the bottom of the package or printed on a white sticker affixed to the lid.
The company has not yet received any reports of injury or illness in connection to this lot of snack mix. According to the American College of Asthma, Allergies, and Immunology, tree not allergies are relatively common. Consumption and exposure to tree nuts can put an allergic person at risk for a variety of symptoms, including digestive issues; difficulty swallowing; itchiness and swelling of the mouth, lips, or throat; congestion; and at the more serious end, anaphylaxis.
