FDA warns – Tasty Snacks “Plum Queen” Dried Plums recalled due to undeclared sulfites

According to the FDA, Bayonne, New Yersey-based Win Luck Trading, Inc. has recalled its “Plum Queen” Dried Plums because the product label’s ingredient panel does not list sulfites as an allergen.

Individuals who live with a sulfite allergy or sensitivity are advised that they could suffer a major or life-threatening allergic reaction upon consumption of the product.

Initiated by Win Luck Trading, Inc. on January 3, 2024, the recall covers “Plum Queen” Dried Plums that were distributed and made available at retail stores across New York and New Jersey. It comes in a 200-gram, clear plastic container under the Tasty Snacks brand name.

Officials say the mislabeling first came to their attention following a routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, which identified the presence of sulfites in the products, which had been distributed in packaging with no sulfites declaration. Further investigation demonstrated that a disruption in the company’s production and packaging protocols led to the oversight.

While the Win Luck Trading, Inc. has not been made aware of any allergic reactions or illnesses related to the problem, all production of the product has been halted as the company collaborates with the FDA to resolve the issue.

Anyone who may have purchased the 200 g Tasty Snacks “Plum Queen” Dried Plums is asked to refrain from consuming the product. The item should either be returned to the point of purchase for a total refund or discarded. Questions about the recall may be directed to Win Luck Trading, Inc. at 201-332-8878, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern time.
