FDA warns – Single lot of Full Circle Market Coconut Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert recalled due to mislabeling, undeclared cashew

G.S. Gelato & Desserts, Inc., of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, has recalled a single lot of its Full Circle Market-branded Coconutmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert because the product contains cashew, a major allergen not disclosed due to a mislabeling, reports the FDA.

Consumers who live with a major sensitivity or allergy to cashew are asked to refrain from eating the product to avoid the risk of a serious, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

Initiated by the company on August 6, 2024, the recall covers 1-pint/16-ounce paper cartons of the product under Lot number 041624L2, “Best By” date (BBD) 10/15/2025, and Universal Product Code (UPC) 0 36800 46964 8. These identifying details can be located on the bottom of the carton, as show in a product photo included in the FDA announcement.

Officials said that while the lid of the affected product is for “Nature’s Promise” brand Cashewmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, the carton that it comes in is labeled for “Full Circle Market” brand Coconutmilk Chocolate Almond Crunch Frozen Dessert, which does not include cashew as an allergen in its ingredient list.

Recalled products, along with other Full Circle Market brand items, were distributed across distribution centers in three U.S. states (Georgia, Massachusetts, New York) and made available for purchase at retail stores in a total of 8 states (New York, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island). All shipping of the products in question fell between April 18, 2024, and July 11, 2024.

G.S. Gelato said it took action after learning from one retail store that a product’s carton and lid displayed information for two separate products. An internal investigation into the origin of the problem found that during the manufacturing process, one lot of cashewmilk product pints was placed into the pints marked for Full Circle Market brand Coconutmilk.

While the company has not been alerted to any illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the issue to date, anyone–especially those with a cashew sensitivity–who may have a recalled product in their possession is urged not to consume it. For assistance about the recalled product, consumers are able to reach company representative Ginger Moss by phone at (850) 243-5455 on Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.
