According to the FDA, 72 bottles of Amyloid Complete has been recalled by DaVinci Laboratories, a division of Williston, Vermont-based FoodScience, LLC, because of the potential presence of undeclared shellfish (shrimp and crab).
Individuals who live with a sensitivity or allergy to shellfish are advised against consuming the products to avoid the risk of a major or life-threatening allergic reaction.
Initiated by FoodScience, LLC, on May 8, 2024, the recall covers Amyloid Complete under Lot # 549853001, which was distributed across the U.S. via the e-commerce platforms iHerb.com and fullscripts.com, as well as by direct delivery.
The product comes in tan capsules that are packaged in white plastic bottles with labels bearing both the lot number and the expiration date “0125” along the side. Images of the product labels can be referenced in the FDA communication.
Officials say action was first taken after FoodScience, LLC, received a customer complaint which indicated that a number of the bottles labeled Amyloid Complete may have Perna Plus Tabs with DMG (dimethylglycine), rendering the product as having undeclared shellfish.
While FoodScience, LLC, has not received any reports of an allergic reaction or other illness in connection to the problem to date, those who have a shellfish allergy are urged not to consume the product. Consumers who may have a bottle of the product under lot number 549853001 are encouraged to reach out to the company to arrange a return and replacement of the product via 1-800-325-1776, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
