FDA warns – Single batch of 32oz Aldi Deli Macaroni Salad recalled by Reser’s Fine Foods due to mislabeling, undeclared wheat

According to the FDA, Aldi Deli Macaroni Salad, 32 oz, under use-by date June 3, 2024, has been recalled by Reser’s Fine Foods because of incorrect labeling, which fails to declare wheat as an allergen in the product.

Initiated by the Beaverton, Oregon-based company on May 17, 2024, the recall covers packages of the salad that were produced at a regional facility and distributed to ALDI stores across the following U.S. states: Alabama, Connecticut, Floria, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont.

As demonstrated in the product photos attached to the FDA announcement, while the 32-ounce Aldi Deli Macaroni Salad comes in a plastic tub with a label affixed to the front side that correctly identifies the product, the bottom label, which features the Nutrition Facts and Ingredients, incorrectly labels the product as “Coleslaw.” The nutrition and ingredient information is also not consistent with that of “Macaroni Salad.”

While the communication does not indicate whether Reser’s Fine Foods has received any reports of illness to date, anyone with a wheat sensitivity, or anyone who may be concerned about the allergen labeling, should be advised. Consumers are asked to either discard the salad or return it to their local ALDI store to receive a complete refund.

Further recall-related questions may be directed to Reser’s Fine Foods by calling 888-223-2127. Representatives are available to assist Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
