The FDA recently warned the public of a recall initiated by Hammond’s Candies of two lots of its Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones due to the potential presence of undeclared milk. The company announced the recall after a customer complained of an allergic reaction after eating the product.
Hammond’s Candies announced the recall on Thursday, September 5th. The UPC code for the item is 691355905135, and the company’s code for the product is FC23212. The lots included in the recall are marked with “LN0525453 Use By: 03/20/2025” and “LN0525453 Use By: 05/20/2025. Thus far, Hammond’s Candies has only received one report of an allergic reaction linked to their Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones, but subsequent testing discovered “more than trace amounts of milk” in the affected lots. According to Mayo Clinic, milk intolerances and allergies are quite common and can cause symptoms that include hives, wheezing, swelling of the lips or tongue, digestive upset, or in the most severe cases, anaphylaxis and even death.
Hammond’s Candies encourages consumers to check the lot number printed on their bag and, if appropriate, to return to the product for a full refund.
