FDA warns – Eban’s Bakehouse recalls 12-count packages of Sweet Indulgences cookie bites due to undeclared milk, soy

According to the FDA, Eban’s Bakehouse has voluntarily recalled its 12-count, 11.85-ounce boxes of Sweet Indulgences cookie bites because the products contain milk and soy, two allergens not declared on the ingredient label.

Individuals who live with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk and/or soy are warned that they could suffer a major, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction upon consuming the product.

Consumers should note that the recall only covers the 12-count multi-pack products and not the traditional 2-ounce cookie products.

Initiated by the company on December 16, 2023, the recall affects the following cookie bites:

  • Brown Butter Honey Pistachio
  • Lemon Shortbread
  • Brown Butter Snickerdoodle
  • Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk
  • Chocolate Chili Coffee Coconut
  • Turtle Brownie

The now-recalled products were made available for purchase between January 30, 2023 and December 13, 2023, via the following venues:

  • Premier Produce One, 2110 Cloverleaf Street East, Columbus, OH
  • Eban’s Retail Website, www.ebansbakehouse.com
  • Gordon Food Service EPO/Dropship Program, www.gfs.com

Eban’s Bakehouse said the labeling problem was first brought to its attention during a routine inspection carried out by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

While the company has not received any reports of illness related to the recalled products, consumers with a milk and/or soy allergy should discard any affected products that may be in their possession. For questions regarding a refund or other recall-related concerns, Eban’s Bakehouse may be contacted via Sarah Farley at 513-409-3226, or via email at info@ebansbakehouse.com.

Anyone experiencing signs of an allergic reaction is urged to seek immediate medical attention.
