FDA warns – Deluxe Macarons Party Edition recalled by Lidl due to multiple undeclared allergens

Lidl US, of Arlington, Virginia, has recalled its Deluxe-branded Macarons Party Edition because the products, which bear non-English ingredient labels, were found to contain a number of undeclared allergens: wheat, soy, egg, milk, and three types of tree nuts (almonds, pistachios, and coconut).

While Lidl US has not received reports of illness or adverse reactions in connection to the problem to date, individuals who are allergic to any of the above ingredients are urged against consuming the products to avoid the risk of a major or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Initiated by the company on March 29, 2024, the voluntary recall covers units prominently displaying the “Deluxe” brand at the top of the packaging’s front panel, as can be referenced in the product photos attached to the FDA communication. The words “Party Edition” can be found at the bottom of the front panel, and the back panel bears non-English labeling and/or ingredients. All affected units can be identified by the barcode or UPC (Universal Product Code) 4056489365365.

Officials say the mislabeling was discovered internally after the products had already been distributed to all Lidl stores across the following U.S. states: Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Anyone who may have purchased a product matching the above information is asked to refrain from consuming it. The item may be brought back to a local Lidl store for a complete refund, with or without a receipt. Further questions about the recall may be directed to the Lidl US Customer Care Hotline at (844) 747-5435, Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
