Palermo Villa, Inc. of Milwaukee issued a recall last week of one lot of Connie’s Thin Crust Cheese frozen pizzas. According to the FDA, the company has reason to believe that the recalled pizzas may have been contaminated with plastic or metal.
Connie’s This Crust Cheese Pizza is sold in a white and gray cardboard box with the Connie’s logo and the slogan, “CHICAGO’S FINEST SINCE 1963.” The item number for the recalled pizza is 19104, and the lot number is MR199856. According to Palermo Villa, Inc., a total of 1,728 pizzas was included in the recalled lot. The pizzas were sold through retailers in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. All of the recalled items expired on November 27, 2024, and are no longer available for purchase. The recall applies to pizzas that might remain in the freezers of customers.
Palermo Villa, Inc. has not received any reports thus far of illness or injury linked to consumption of the recalled pizzas. While they referenced “a possible plastic foreign contaminant” in the recalled pies, the company did not provide any further details about what may have caused the contamination. The company assures customers that no other lot numbers or products produced by Palermo Villa are at risk for contamination.
The company advises customers to check their freezers for the recalled product. Those customers in possession of a pizza from the recalled lot should discard of it or return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
