FDA warns – Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin, 4 Count recalled by FGF Brands Inc. due to undeclared walnuts

According to the FDA, 11830 cases of Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin, sold in 4-count containers, has been recalled by the Toronto, Ontario-based company FGF Brands Inc. because of undeclared walnuts.

Individuals who live with a walnut allergy or sensitivity are advised against consuming the products to avoid the risk of a major or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Initiated by the company on June 26, 2024, the recall covers 4-count packages of Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin that were made available for purchase at Aldi retail stories across the country.

The product comes in a clear plastic clamshell container with four muffins and is sealed by a red and white label. Recalled products can be identified by the lot # NF1 142Y printed on the top of the plastic container itself, as well as the Universal Product Code (UPC) 4099100048278 printed on the section of the label that adheres to the back of the container. Images of the product are included with the FDA announcement for easy reference.

Officials first took action after learning that the product, which contains walnut, was packaged and distributed without any declaration of the allergen on the label’s ingredient panel. A temporary lapse in the company’s production and packaging protocols was found to have been the root cause of the issue.

While FGF Brands Inc. has not been alerted to any illnesses or adverse events connected to the issue to date, the company has halted all production of the product as the problem is being addressed in collaboration with the FDA.

Anyone who may have purchased an affected 4-count package of Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffin is advised to bring the item back to the point of purchase to receive a complete refund. Further questions may be directed to FGF Brands Inc. via email at customercare@fgfbrands.com.
