Brooklyn, New York-based AMB Food Inc. has recalled its 8-ounce bags of Pop a Nosh Mixed Munch Regular and Honey BBQ snacks because the products contain wheat, a major allergen not disclosed on an ingredient panel.
Individuals who live with a severe sensitivity or allergy to wheat are advised against consuming the products to avoid the risk of a major, life-threatening allergic reaction.
Initiated by AMB Food Inc. on May 23, 2024, the recalled products were distributed to retail markets within Brooklyn, New York. Pop a Nosh Mixed Munch Regular and Honey BBQ snacks come in clear, 8-ounce plastic bags bearing the product UPC 914669941 and 914669940, respectively.
While the front label–which prominently displays the product name and flavor of both products–indicates the presence of wheat-containing pretzels, along with potato chips and pretzels, the bags of both products fail to feature a proper ingredient label that discloses wheat as an allergen.
Officials said they took action after discovering the issue, and, to date of the May 24, 2024, FDA announcement, continue to investigate in order to address the root cause.
Although customers have not reported any injuries or illnesses in connection to the recall at this time, anyone who is sensitive to wheat is asked to not consume the product. Affected items may be returned to the point of purchase to receive a complete refund or replacement.
Further questions or concerns about the issue may be directed to AMB Food Inc. at 929-292-0838. Representatives are available Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
