Muskegon, Michigan-based Wesco, Inc. has recalled 750 units of its Wesco Mint No Bake Cookie Bites because it may contain traces of peanut, a major allergen not listed in the product’s ingredient list, according to the FDA.
Individuals who live with a peanut allergy or sensitivity are strongly advised against consuming the products to avoid the risk of a major or life-threatening allergic reaction.
Announced by Wesco, Inc. on March 8, 2024, the recall covers Wesco No Bake Cookie Bites that were made available for purchase at Wesco convenience stores across Michigan’s lower peninsula. The products are listed under Universal Product Code (UPC) 750308040474 and come packaged in clear 9-ounce plastic cups marked with the following “Sell Thru” dates:

Consumers with peanut allergies, or those whose loved ones have similar sensitivities, should be aware of common symptoms of allergic reaction, which may include: hives; skin that is flushed or exhibiting a rash; an itchy or tingling mouth; swelling in the face, tongue, or lips; vomiting; diarrhea; cramps in the abdomen; coughing and/or wheezing; throat and vocal cord swelling; breathing difficulty; losing consciousness.
Officials first took action after learning that the peanut butter-containing Wesco Mint No Bake Cookie Bites were distributed in packaging that neglects to indicate peanuts as an allergen on the product label. An incorrect product formulation produced by the manufacturing facility’s new software system was later found to be the source of the issue.
While the company has not received any reports of illness related to the issue to date, anyone who may have purchased of the recalled units of Wesco Mint No Bake Cookie Bites with any of the above “Sell Thru” dates are asked to take it back to the point of purchase to receive a complete refund.
