FDA warns – 5lb. Food Club All Purpose Flour recalled by Shawnee Milling Company due to undeclared milk, egg

According to the FDA, Shawnee, Oklahoma-based Shawnee Milling Company has recalled its 5-pound Food Club-branded All Purpose Flour, under “Best if Used by” date 03/07/2025 due to the potential presence of undeclared milk and egg.

Individuals who live with an allergy and/or sensitivity to egg or milk allergy are advised that consuming these products could pose a major, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

Announced by the company on March 28, 2024, the recall covers Food Club All Purpose Flour that was distributed and made available for purchase in retail stores across Ohio and New York.

As seen in the product photo attached to the FDA communication, Food Brand All Purpose Flour comes in 5-pound blue paper bags with the “Best if Used by” date of “03/07/2025” marked on the top of the bag’s front panel.

Officials attribute the issue and the subsequent recall to a breakdown in equipment during the production process, which potentially resulted in cross-contact of the allergen.

While the company has not received any reports of illness at this time, anyone who may have purchased one of the 5 lb. bags of the product listed under the above date is asked to bring the item back to the point of purchase, where they can receive a complete refund.

Further questions may be directed to the company at 1-800-654-2600, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday.
