FDA warns – 315 bags of Pedigree® Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food recalled due to potential foreign matter

According to the FDA, Mars Petcare US, of Franklin, Tennessee, has recalled 315 44-pound bags of Pedigree® Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food because the bag may contain loose pieces of metal.

Officials noted that only products in the above bag size are impacted. Initiated by Mars Petcare US on May 17, 2024, the voluntary and limited recall covers products under “Best By” date March 4, 2025, and Lot Code 410B2TXT02. The packages were made available for purchase in Walmart stores across “Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.” As shown in the product photo provided in the FDA communication, the “Best By” date and lot code can be located on the back of the bag’s bottom seal.

The May 17, 2024 letter does not indicate in detail how metal pieces may have entered the product, but consumers are warned that the potential presence of foreign matter could harm the health of pets. Any pet believed to have consumed product from an impacted bag should be closely monitored, and a veterinarian should be contacted in the event of unusual activity.

Although Mars Petcare US has not received any reports of injury or illness in connection to the recall, anyone who may have an affected product in their possession is urged to discontinue all use.

At this time, the company is collaborating with Walmart locations in the impacted states to ensure that the recalled products have been removed from store shelves and inventory.

To arrange for a return or to have any questions addressed, consumers should reach out to the Mars Petcare US’s consumer care team at 1-800-525-5273. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), as well as on Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST.
