FDA warns – 2 lots of Terrafina Golden Raisins recalled for presence of undeclared sulfites

The FDA announced on Monday, August 26th, a recall initiated by Sunco & Frenchie LLC of two lots of its 10oz Terrafina Golden Raisins due to the potential presence of undeclared sulfites. Consumption of the product could cause a serious and potentially fatal allergic reaction in people with sulfite allergies.

The recall applies to New York consumers who may have purchased raisins distributed by Smith Valley Foods, LLC. The two lots included in the recall are Lot# GRA240602 and Lot# GDR240901. The UPC on the product is 847938001385.

The FDA says the lots in question were sold in square containers with bright orange labels on their front. Consumers can consult the back of the container for the lot number and the “Best if used by” date. Lot# GRA240602 lists a best by date of 08/2025, while lot # GDR24091 lists a best by date of 05/2025. The FDA communication includes photos of the product in question.

Sunco & Frenchie declared the recall after New York state food inspectors detected sulfites in the raisins and found that the labels on the corresponding product containers did not list sulfites along with tree nuts, soy, sesame, wheat, and dairy as a potential allergen.

While no illnesses have been reported thus far in connection to the recalled raisins, consumers have been cautioned against eating them. Stores will provide a full refund for returns of Terrafina Golden Raisins.
