The FDA alerted the public last Thursday, August 22nd, of a recall involving three lots, or 840 units, of MONTREAL FUDGE produced by Authentik Fudge of Sainte-Julie, Quebec, Canada. The company issued the recall on Wednesday, August 21st, after receiving a complaint from a consumer and then finding multiple instances of mold contamination in the affected lots.
The product is packaged in a white and orange gable box with the brand “MONTREAL FUDGE” printed on the front along with the description “CHOCOLATE FUDGE with NUTS.” Each box lists a net weight of 5.6 ounces, or 160 grams, and is marked “Gluten Free.”
Authentik Fudge is recalling units that were distributed June 19th and June 20th through TJ Maxx and Marshalls retail stores in forty states across the U.S. The specific lots included in the recall are #0241500805 (Expiration date 2025/MR/01), #0241690105 (Expiration date 2025/MR/17), and #0241690205 (Expiration dates 2025/MR/17).
Below is a list of states for each retail store where the recalled lots were distributed on June 19th and 20th. Consumers who purchased MONTREAL FUDGE at these locations should check the lot number on their box.

Authentik Fudge has not received any reports thus far of illness or adverse health events connected to their MONTREAL FUDGE, but they urge consumers who may have purchased the affected product to destroy, discard, or return it to TX Maxx or Marshalls for a full refund.
